What is the Level 2 Award in Understanding Nutrition, Performance and Healthy Eating?
This is a nationally recognised Active IQ qualification that provides foundational knowledge of nutrition principles for health and physical performance.
Who is this course designed for?
It is ideal for fitness enthusiasts, personal trainers, coaches, health and community workers, or anyone interested in understanding healthy eating and nutrition's role in performance.
What topics will I learn?
You will study the function of food, relationship between food and health, basics of a balanced diet, principles of weight control, and ways to promote healthy eating.
How is the course delivered?
The course is delivered as online learning (eLearning) with a complementary manual and flexible twelve-month access to complete the qualification at your own pace.
How long is access for?
You’ll have 12 months of access starting from when you enrol, and if you’d like more time, you can extend it for a small additional fee.
How long does the course take?
It takes approximately 2-4 hours to complete study and assessment tasks, with a six-month window to finish.
How is the course assessed?
Assessment is by worksheet or coursework submission with tutor support.
Are there any entry requirements?
There are no formal prerequisites, but learners should have basic communication skills and be aged 16 or over.

Successful completion awards the Active IQ Level 2 Award in Understanding Nutrition, Performance and Healthy Eating.

What qualification will I achieve and what are the course specifications?
Upon successful completion of this course, you will achieve the Active IQ Level 2 Award in Understanding Nutrition, Performance and Healthy Eating (RQF) (Qualification Number: 601/2039/3). This qualification has a Guided Learning Hours (GLH) value of 12 hours and a Total Qualification Time (TQT) of 20 hours, reflecting the time required to complete both guided study and independent learning. The qualification is designed to provide learners with a foundational understanding of nutrition and the role it plays in supporting health, wellbeing, and physical performance. Throughout the course, learners will explore the principles of healthy eating, the importance of key nutrients, hydration, energy balance, and how dietary choices can impact exercise performance and overall health. This qualification is ideal for individuals looking to develop their nutrition knowledge for personal interest or as a stepping stone towards further study within the health and fitness industry. In addition, this qualification is recognised by CIMSPA and awards 10 CIMSPA CPD points upon successful completion, supporting your ongoing professional development within the fitness industry.
