How long is access for?
You’ll have 12 months of access starting from when you enrol, and if you’d like more time, you can extend it for a small additional fee.
What is this course about?
This qualification enables fitness professionals to design safe, effective, and individualised exercise programmes for pre and post-natal clients, considering physiological, biomechanical, and psychological changes during pregnancy and after birth.
Who is the course suitable for?
It is aimed at fitness instructors and personal trainers with prior Level 2 or Level 3 fitness qualifications who want to specialise in pre and post-natal exercise.
What topics are covered?
Topics include physiological and anatomical changes in pregnancy, health and nutritional considerations, psychological aspects, contraindications, benefits of exercise, barriers and concerns, and exercise programming tailored for pre and post-natal stages.
Are there any entry requirements?
Learners must hold a Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing or an equivalent qualification like Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training, Pilates, or Yoga instructing.
How is the course delivered?
The course is mostly online/self-study with some video tutorials, and continuous tutor support.
How long does the course take?
Approximately 30 hours total qualification time, with guided learning hours around 12, allowing completion within a few weeks to months depending on pace.
How is assessment conducted?
Assessment includes coursework, projects, case studies, and portfolio evidence.
What certification is awarded?
Successful learners receive the Active IQ Level 3 Award in Designing Pre and Post-Natal Exercise Programmes.

It leads to specialist roles in pre and post-natal fitness, and progression to higher-level fitness qualifications such as Level 3 Personal Training or further specialist awards at Level 4.
