1. Who is this course suitable for?
This course is ideal for personal trainers, fitness professionals, and anyone looking to instruct group pilates sessions.
2. What qualification will I receive?
You will receive the Active IQ Level 3 Diploma in Instructing Pilates Matwork
3. How is the course delivered?
The course is delivered through blended learning, a combination of online e-learning modules and a four-day immersive, residential workshop with a practical assessment on the final day.
4. How often do the 4-day residential workshops run?
You can start your online e-learning at any time and the four-day immersive residential workshops with the practical assessments are run once a quarter.
4. Do I need any prior qualifications to enrol?
There are no formal prerequisites, but a background in fitness, anatomy, or fitness instructing is beneficial.
5. What does the four-day residential workshop involve?
The workshop focuses on the practical instruction of Pilates matwork – there is classroom based theory sessions combined with plenty of practical instruction sessions. The residential workshop is held at Lakeside Lodge in the beautiful Cambrigeshire countryside – during down time, you will have access to the extensive gym, 18-hole golf course, 9-hole pitch and putt course, ten pin bowling, bar and restaurant and access to beautiful countryside walks or runs.
6. What does the price include?
The cost of the course includes your elearning, registration and certification, 3 nights bed and breakfast in one of the Lakeside lodges, 4 full day's workshop and assessment and a hard copy printed training manual.
6. Where does the practical workshop take place?
The practical element is held at the residential training venue. Full location and accommodation details will be provided upon enrolment.
7. Who delivers the course?
Training is led by Dawn Fairey, an experienced Pilates Instructor, trainer and assessor with over 30 years experience.
8. How is the course assessed?
You’ll complete online knowledge-based assessments, submit worksheets and assignments for marking and finish with a practical assessment on the final day of the residential course.
9. Will I be able to practice as a Pilates Matwork instructor after the course?
Yes, upon successful completion, you’ll be qualified to offer Pilates Matwork sessions professionally, either as a standalone service or as part of your existing fitness business.
10. How long do I have access to the online learning materials?
You’ll have full access to the e-learning platform for the duration of the course, with plenty of time to review and complete the theoretical content before your practical training.
11. Can I use prior achievement from my Personal Trainer qualification to exempt me from learning?
Recognition of Prior Achievement
In some instances, individuals may be granted exemptions from specific units as they have been achieved from qualifications already achieved and certificated.
The following units are commonly included in other qualifications and may therefore have already been achieved. To be considered for Recognition of Prior Achievement and to be granted exemption, applicants must provide valid evidence in the form of an Awarding Organisation certificate confirming achievement:
- Level 3: Anatomy and Physiology for Exercise and Health (A/600/9051)
- Level 2: Know How to Support Clients Who Take Part in Exercise and Physical Activity (M/600/9015)
- Level 2: Health, Safety and Welfare in a Fitness Environment (T/600/9016)
- Level 2: Principles of Exercise, Fitness and Health (A/600/9017)
If acceptable evidence cannot be provided, full assessment of the relevant units will be required.
